One-Armed Golfer Inspiration

Golf is a complex sport for beginners, but this does not apply to the young golfer from South Florida, United States, Tommy Morrisey, who has one hand.

Tommy was introduced to golf at the age of 14 months by his father, Joe Morrisey. Since then, his love for golf has grown steadily. In fact, he was invited to The Ellen Degeneres Talkshow when he was three. A year later, Tommy visited Indonesia, on April 22nd2015 to participate in a Friendly Driving Challenge at CIMB Niaga Indonesia Masters Tournament. On that occasion, Tommy inspires young Indonesian golfers.

Since he has been actively playing golf, he is regularly participating in many tournaments, especially since four years-old. He made it through several children’s golf tournaments in America. Some of his notable achievements include being an unbeatable player from the age of four to five, winning the Junior Honda Classic at the age of five and qualifying for the World Championship when he was five and six.

One of the most obvious challenges for Tommy in playing golf is maintaining balance while swinging his golf club. Fortunately, Cobra Golf has helped solve this problem by customizing special equipment for him. Tommy uses a weight-sensitive stick with one swinging arm. This equipment modification is made to make Tommy maintain his balance.

Beside his success in golf, Tommy is well known in several television documentaries, Golf Digest Magazine and he is active on social media. He also conducts “One Arm Challenge” contest with several world professional golfers. He also has a high social life by establishing The UnLIMBited Foundation. This foundation focuses on providing financial assistance for families with children with disabilities, especially with physical disabilities who need surgery. Tommy is now 9 years old, and he continues to actively playing golf and regularly uploads on social media Instagram @onearmgolfer and youtube.
